So I am thinking does that mean my header is Waterfront Property? I think I am going to build a house on it. Seriously though I am thinking I need to do something with it.

I’m subscribed!

“above the fold” or “before the scroll” means just that. It’s everything you can see when you first hit the site, before you start scrolling downward.

This is considered the most prime real estate a site has (including the header itself). Ex: any advertising space above the fold will usually be more expensive then further down.

You can have your subscription avenues in multiple places, but one should most certainly be above the fold.

Hey Dennis! I did it! Thanks for the clear instructions. I got the form up there. I may play around with where I want it and what looks good, but for now I stuck it in the side bar. Now I will admit I haven’t used feedburner and not really sure how to use it, but it seems like a good thing.

I do got another dumb question when you say above the fold what did you mean? I have creases and folds on my forehead but thats just because I am getting old

No problem my friend and don’t feel bad. You’d be surprised at how many don’t realize it’s there, and shocked to know how many of them are not new. lol

Log into feedburner – go to “my feeds” – pick the one you want – click the “publicize” tab – on the left hand side click “email subscriptions” – you will see two snippets of code, big one for the subscription box; smaller one that just gives a link – choose one and stick in in you header or sidebar preferably above the fold.

Done! You may also want to announce the fact that it’s available, you should surely see a rise in subscriptions.
