Don’t Be Afraid to Install a WordPress Theme
If you can add an Image to your Post you can Install a WordPress Theme. Let me explain.
So in my previous post (well one of my previous posts) I talked about searching the Internet and finding some great WordPress themes. What I didn’t tell you is that it is really pretty easy to Install WordPress Themes from the Internet.
Let say you do a Google Search for “Free WordPress Themes”. From your search you find several Websites with Free WordPress Themes. So you are scanning a few sites looking for something appealing something that catches your eye. I was actually doing this the other night. For some reason every once and a while I feel like a new look to my blog. This happened a few months ago and I am getting that feeling again.
So there you are with this “Free WordPress Themes” Google Search and you clicked on a site and you find a WordPress Theme that you like. It may seem hard, but it really isn’t difficult to add the theme to your blog. Here is what you need to do.
1. Back up your Blog. Important: Do this incase anything happens when you install a new Theme.
2. Click Download Next to the Theme that you like. There is usually some kind of download button.
3. Save the Zip File of the Theme to your desktop or in an area that you are familiar with.
4. Log into your Blog and Go to your Dashboard.
5. Go to Appearance and Add New Themes.
6. Under Install Theme you will see “Upload”
7. Click on “Upload” and then “Browse” for the Theme you just Downloaded
8. Click on Install and Wait……………..
9. WordPress will Upload and Install the Theme so that it will be accessible to Preview and Activate.
I was installing a few WordPress Themes last night. As I had said I am getting the feeling of changing my Theme. I don’t know if it is a good thing or a bad thing, but I feel like a new look so you may see something change, but I am not sure yet. What I do know is that I better backup the blog before I install a new theme
Ok I know what you are thinking. I told you at the beginning of this post that if you can add an Image to a post you can Install a WordPress Theme and this post doesn’t even have a Post Image. Well I am working on it trying to find the right picture for the post. I guess it isn’t as easy as I thought it was

I love how easy it is to customize your WordPress blog. I am sure I have only tapped the surface though. I am sure there is much more you can learn about WordPress and how to use it.

Hey Jim, thanks for the GREAT tips. I’ve been thinking the same thing lately. Right now I’m on blogger but I have the notion to get my own URL and was thinking of WordPress. It always seems like WordPress has the best themes too!!!
I happen to like easy feel of your blog but I certainly understand the need for a change. I think the change of seasons has something to do with it.
Lately, I’ve been playing with this online program called Spicynodes I would love to create a banner using it.
Thanks again for the great info, if you get a moment, stop by my blog. I included your link in a post I did today.

Hi Louise!
I hope and I am glad you are getting something out of the tips. I think your right it must be the change of seasons I just get that itch everyonce and a while for a new look. But I do like the look now. I like to keep it simple and clean not flashy.
This is really my first blog and I haven’t used anything else but WordPress. Well this isn’t actually my first blog. I tried to create a blog a few years ago with wordpress and after a few posts I did something and locked up the blog and it I couldnt get into it. TIP number 586 on blogging: If you don’t know HTML don’t go in and try to edit your Page Template, Header or Footer or anything for that matter. I think thats what happen to me. I went into the header or something made some changes and really messed up the blog. Well anyways that was my first blog. With this one I am more careful.
Thanks again for stopping by Louise. I really do like WordPress. If you decide you want to move to WordPress and you need a hand just let me know. I am gonna hop on to your blog right now

I remember the first time I installed WordPress, many moons ago, and it was relatively easy even then. The thing that I like about WordPress is that it is constantly and evolving, and every time there is an update there are so many improvements.
That upload from the theme page must be new, as the last time I did a theme change I had to use and FTP client.
As to themes and headers and stuff, man have I had some dramas trying to customize my theme over the years. Thankfully my current theme makes it so easy.

Hi Sire!
Yeah the upload from the theme page is relatively new. It came with one of the recent upgrades to WordPress. It may have been months ago. I am not sure, but it makes it even easier to upload a new theme. You don’t even have to go through your FTP client.
I am a Big fan of WordPress although I may be bias I haven’t actually used anything else

Wordpress is perfect. I have used it from the very begining 7 weeks ago.
Free, powerfull and updated all the time, plus a stack of themes you can choose from and even more plugins make it a no brainer.
As you say it’s a piece of cake to install and now most self hosted packages have a one button install system for WordPress.
Good post brother

Jim, I did actually try a couple of other platforms, one was drupal and the other escapes me, and as far as I’m concerned WordPress is far, far better.
Say Jim, if I could be so bold as to make a suggestion for your blog? I’ve found that a ‘reply to comment’ plugin is a great way for getting people to return to check up on what other people have had to say, that and to see if the blogger has replied to their comment. Otherwise they may never come back.

Haven’t they told you yet? I am part kangaroo.
Honestly though, I think I was just checking to see who Tweeted my last post. The name didn’t ring a bell but I knew where I was as soon as I got here.
Good to see you installed that plugin. I will be interested to know if, over time, it has any effect.

currently I’m using the Arras theme, which can be seen at my site. It takes some time to figure everything out when you dont know anything about code, but I’ll highly recommend it nonetheless. It rocks like your favourite band’s newest album combined with discovering notes/cash in a sweater you havent worn for months. lmao

I have heard of that one. I’ll have to check it out. I just get the urge to change everyonce and a while though maybe if I found something I really liked I would stick with it. I do like what I have. Its clean and I think pleasing on the eyes.
