Do you have Visitors Coming for the Holidays?

For the past 4 days my Google Analytics account shows I haven’t had any vistors. No visitors at all. Zippo! None! 0.0%!Though I know some people have come to my Blog taken the time to read some posts and make a Comments. Which I truely appreciate. Thanks Louise, Sire, Kristi, Ned, TheInfoPreneur! I would also like to thank Anyone that has come by and taken the time to read my Blog!

So how does Google Analytics work?

Actually since November 22, I have had a slow decline in Visitor traffic. On November 22, I actually had the most Visitors in one day peaking at 138 visitors for that particular day. And guess which post drove the most traffic? The short post on Mystery Google. Which to me was really a nothing post. I had written the post after taking a look at Google Trends one day and found it to be a hot trend. So I tried Mystery Google out and decided to make a post about it because it was interesting. Funny thing is I have received over 1000 views of this post alone. Way more than any other post that I have written. Quite honestly I dont really know why. What I do know is that I receive a lot of search engine traffic from Google for that particular post. Actually if you go to Google and type “Mystery Google Tricks” my blog is at the top of the Google Search. Pretty cool right? Well its not really something I want to be known for. I would rather be known for Blogging Tips and Tricks not Mystery Google Tricks.

Now what I am trying to figure out is how to create this kind of search engine traffic, keyword driven search engine traffic with some of my other posts. I figure if I can figure that out I should be able to drive my traffic a little higher than it is now. Well it can only go up from here!

Honestly I kinda figured my traffic might drop during the Holiday Season. The Holidays are a special time to spend with our family and friends sharing and creating special memories that will last a lifetime.

Happy Holidays Everyone!

OMG how’d you do that??? Those two cuties of snow people. I want one!!!!

I don’t understand all that Google Analytics stuff. How does one really know how accurate they are anyway. I suppose some day I will need to know however, today, I’m delighted to “see” you and Sire have touched base and to thank you for visiting my blog.

I won’t be posting for a while. (Uh oh those numbers will dive I suppose) Have a wonderful holiday with your family Jim. Perhaps, you need to add some blogging tip recipes during the festivities. I hear the word recipe in a blog post sure does bring the visitors!!!

    P.S. Happy Egg Nog Day!!!

OK Jim, what the hell is Louise talking about? I don’t see anything and I’m not even in an eggnog induced stupor :D

I visit Analytic occasionally but I haven’t delved into it all that much. I usually use Statcounter or my CoolBlogLinks site to see how I’m doing compared to other members. After just checking those sites I can say that my traffic is down. Actually, seeing as how I’m always looking at CoolBlogLinks, it appears that everyone else is as well. All to be expected due to Xmas and all.

LOL Eggnog is great! Remember don’t Eggnog and Blog you don’t want to have any accidents! Eggnogging and Blogging don’t mix….well maybe they do! Could create some real creative posts.

I’ll have to check out the statcounter or coolbloglinks. I haven’t heard of those. But just like you said I figured my traffic would go down during the holidays. Its alright.

  5. That can be a nice strategy to improve traffic. But don’t forget to write for the humans buddy ;-)

    Jim Hardin Reply:

The human traffic is more important. This is very true. Quite honestly when I create a post I just type not worrying about keywords or anything. I just create it as it comes to my mind. Certainly if you want to get noticed by search engines you should do the whole keyword thing. I definately enjoy my human visitors as they leave more comments. The search engines themselves don’t ever leave a comment.

LOL how do you expect Google to leave comments on your blog hahaha Should it write its name as Google with URL of http://www.google.com and email of googlebot@gmail.com , that would be bizarre but interesting lol

Yeah I don’t see Yahoo leaving any comments either. “Hello Yahoo when are you going to leave a comment. You pick up my blog, but you don’t leave any comments.”

So who am I writing for? I am taking your advice. Write for the human visitors. They are the true readers of my blog and they leave great comments. This is what I truely enjoy about blogging. The true interaction between me and my readers:)

Hey Jim, Now, I have another reason to think seriously about WordPress. (although I’m pretty convinced between your tips and of course Sire’s) Those snow people were so cute. Too bad for Sire that he missed them, LOL

I can’t wait to see what your inspiring “recipe” post will be. I hope you will let me know. Enjoy your holiday weekend. As for me, I’m still packing and loading, UG!

Sire must have seen them I think? I haven’t taken them down yet, but I will soon. There are a lot of different plugins with WordPress to customize it the way you want.

You have a great holiday too. Haven’t been able to be on too much. Just enjoying spending time with my family.

    Have a great day!

    Sire Reply:

Nope, it’s summer here, and we’re expecting a hot one. Only last month, while it was still spring, we had a heat wave with the top temperature hitting 43C

    Hey James!
You can search Google Trends and pick a topic that interests you to write about. As far as like keywords you can use Googles Keyword search tool. It will give you keyword ideas for a particular word or phrase and give you an idea of the search volume. There are though other keyword research tools to use too. Honestly though I don’t do a lot of keyword research. I just write the post as it comes to mind. At times though I will check out google trends if I can’t think of anything to write about. It helps to spark an idea. I hope that helps.

    Thanks for coming by!

I don’t know what was wrong but my browser wouldn’t load your site. Perhaps others were having the same trouble, and why Google showed as no one visiting. Seems OK now.

    >Mystery Google Tricks
It is kind of cool to see the things people search on to find you and what you rank for. I rank first page on Google for a number of similar things in the sense that they aren’t very important. But hey as you say, it is very cool to be #1.

Get to be # 1 for “Google Tricks” that would really be something!
