How to Use Google Trends

How much do you use Google Trends?
Lately I have been going on to Google Trends a bit to check out the latest trends and hot topics. I have been doing this for a couple of reasons.
First its a great way to learn about current events and hot topics.
Secondly, when I see a topic I like I click on it and when you do this Google Trends gives you a list of blogs that have written about that particular topic. I will then visit some of the different blogs listed and take a look, read the post, and leave a comment. The topics I look at are not particularly on blogging. They are just general news and hot topics. Its a great way to see other blogs and learn new things. I also figure what better way to drive different readers to your blog than to go onto different blogs, outside of how to blog blogs.
Ok todays Hot trend? Why is Googles logo a Barcode?
Well I did it I created my own barcode and here is a link where you can create your own.
Anyways, its really funny how some posts stick in your head. One of the very first posts I had read on Stefan Nilsson’s Blog talked about going out beyond your circle of blogs you visit. I would say that post still influences me to this day and will probably haunt me (get it Halloween) for the rest of my life. I mean that in a good way
I think as a blogger if you can develop a post that inspires someone and sticks in their head than you have succeeded. So remember your readers want helpful inspiring information. Do this and they will keep coming back for more.

Thank you for the backlink Jim. I think it is a common problem we all have in almost everything we do. For some reason we love routines and if we find something that works we continue doing it until we get bored or something comes in the way.
Therefore a good challenge could be to find 5 new blogs a day and comment them. By doing so you will “force” 1825 new bloggers into finding you. The best thing about bloggers is that they have a tendency to mention you or link back to you if they find the content relevant.
Just remember to save their URL so you can go back and visit them again.

No problem Stefan I know I had linked to your website before for the same particular article. I guess it really stuck with me which like I said I think is a real good thing.
Thats a great challenge you pointed out. I think it would be a great way to get new readers. Honestly when I started out I just visited the same places, not only blogs, but the same forums. I have started to branch out now. Thanks again for stopping by!

I knew about Google Trends but I hardly ever use it. It’s a great tool to see good hot topics. But I don’t use to follow closely the trends. Maybe I should try it sometimes to see what other bloggers are writting about.
Good post Jim.

Yeah its a great place to spark an idea for posts. But also I like to visit other blogs and check out new things out there. There is so much information out there and so many different places to get it. Google Trends is just one way. I am sure that there are many others.

Well, it seems to be working Jim. I found you through The Hungry Housewife:)
My shortcut for visiting new blogs is to subscribe to the comments after I leave a comment. Most of the time the themes are in the same realm but every now and again, like today, I happen upon someplace new.
Thanks for the info on the google trends and the barcode “creator” I will be looking into them both!!!

Google Trends has been one of the most useful tools that a lot of SEO bloggers use to drive traffic on their sites.
Well, with a lot of SEO bloggers on the blogosphere, I think it would be hard to compete with them trying to land on the first page of SERPs.

Your right I mean if you write about a hot trend you can drive traffic to your site. But like you said there is great competition out there. I like to write about things that I am interested it may not be the hot trend at the moment.
Thanks for coming by!
