How to Get Ideas for Posts
Have you ever sat there trying to think of a topic to write about on your blog, but you just cannot think of anything. I know I have and today is one of those days where I am just staring at the screen thinking. But there are a few things that you can do to get over this. Here are just a few things you can do to keep the ideas flowing when you got what they call bloggers block:
1. Google Trends: Definately a Great place to find current hot trends to write about. This is where I found my last topic on The Wizard of Oz and Google Turning 11.
2. Make Comments on other Blogs: I find that sometimes when I go out and start visiting other blogs there will be times as I start to make a comment I think of a topic to write about.
3. Visit Forums: Same as above about making comments just visit some forums and look at the hot topics. Start participating in the forum and you just might think of something to write about.
4. Listen to Music: Right now I am listening to 80s music. Don’t laugh. Sometimes when I am listening to music and when I hear a song it will remind me of something and give me a great topic to write about. Also I found that having music on in the background keeps me motivated because I tend to type to the beat of the music. “tonight I am going to party like its 1999″….Ok I’ll stop singing. Thank God I am alone and the kids are in bed.
5. Review Draft Posts: I have several draft posts that I have started but not finished. Some of them are just one line sentences and some are paragraphs, but they are just ideas that come to mind and I just start them for times like this.
6. Check out Newspaper: Pick up a newspaper and take a look at the front page. You are bound to find an interesting topic there.
7. Start a Post like This One: This post was generated because I couldn’t think of anything write about. Maybe I should take my own advice and get out there and find a real topic to write about.

Great ideas Jim!
I keep a notebook by the side of the bed. For some strange reason, I get some of my best ideas just as I’m about to visit those dang sheep.
