5 Essential WordPress Plugins

pluginThere are certainly a lot of plugins available for WordPress. I mean if there is something that you want to do with your blog chances are there is a plugin that will help you do it. There are plugins that will help you link to your eBay listings and show them on your blog, there are plugins that will allow you to show the latest news (Google news and CNN News), there are even plugins that will even translate your blog into different languages. Now I haven’t tried them, but below are 4 essential WordPress Plugins that you should install on your blog:

1. Akismet-is a Spam blocker and a great one at that. When blogging you will get comments. Comments are what you really want, but with comments you get some spam comments. Thats where Akisment comes in. Akisment blocks spam and does it well. It blocks a lot of the spam that comes to my blog. Highly Recommended

2. Platinum SEO Pack or All-in-One SEO-These 2 plugins help you with SEO by allowing you add second titles, descriptions, and keywords to your post. You only need one of them. So just pick one of them. I listed them both here as I have used both and both are very good. I am currently using Platinum SEO Pack on this blog as I believe it has a little more to offer. Here is a link to the author page for Platinum SEO Pack.

3. Comment Luv-Very Interesting plugin. Basically once installed and activated when someone leaves a comment on your blog it leaves a link to their last post. Bloggers love comments and you help your visitors get other visitors by allowing them to leave a link to their last post. Its a win win :)

4. Yet another Related Posts Plugin-Its a very good plugin because once installed and activated it will leave a link to related posts at the bottom of each post. This gives the reader options to see related posts to the post that they are reading. You can see this if you click on one of my posts at the bottom of the post you will see Related Posts.

5. WP-DB BackupThis plugin is a great plugin. If you want to back up your blog simply and easily install this plugin and you are ready to go. The minute you install this plugin you can immediately back up your blog with a simple click and then you can schedule your blog to be backed up daily, hourly whatever you want. I backup my blog daily and emailed to me.

These are just 4 of the essential plugins for WordPress, but like I said there is a plugin for just about everything and new plugins are being created everyday for WordPress. Check out my post on Snazzy Archives.

The easiest way to get these plugins is to go to your Dashboard/Plugins and Add New.
